Candle
burning is one of the easiest forms of magic.
It is simple because it uses little ritual and a few ceremonial
artefacts. Candles can be purchased at a variety of places and
its rituals can be practiced in any room in the home.
Most of us have performed our first act of candle magic by
the time we are two years old. Blowing out the tiny candles on
our first birthday cake and making a wish is pure magic. This
childhood custom is based on the three magical principals of
concentration, will power and visualization.
The child who wants his/her wish to come true has to concentrate
(blow out the candles), visualize the end result (make a wish) and
hope that it will come true( will power).
The size and shape of the candles you use is not important, but it
is sometimes helpful to use a certain sized or shaped candle
to assist us in our concentration. |

DOS AN DON’TS OF CANDLE MAGIC

Do use “virgin” [brand new] candles for candle magic.

Do use a new piece of paper to write down what you want. Eg. New
car, new romance, job, healing etc.

Do not use a candle that
has been used for other purposes-such as for a dinner table or as a
night light. There is a very good occult reason for not using
anything but new materials in magic. Vibrations picked up by
second-hand materials or equipment may disturb your workings and
lesson their effectiveness.

Do not use matches to light the candle. The sulphur in matches is a
banishment tool, and will lesson the effects of the candle magic or
make it completely useless. · Do use a candle-snuffer or wet your fingers and pinch it out. · Do not blow out the candle, unless the spell requires it, as normally this will dissipate the energy

Never
re-use a candle which has been lit in any magical ritual. It
should only be used in that ritual and then allowed to burn away or
be disposed of

Some people prefer to make their
own candles for ritual and magical use. It impregnates the
candle with your own personal vibrations.
By physically touching the candle during the dressing procedure, you
are charging it with our own personal vibrations and also
concentrating the purpose of your magical act into the wax.
The candle is becoming an extension of your mental power and life
energy.
Once you have acquired your ritual
candle it must be anointed with oil or 'dressed' before burning.
The purpose of dressing the candle is to establish a psychic link
between it and YOU.
When you dress a candle for magical use,
align the candle horizontally parallel to a line between the north
and a south pole of the Earth.
Rub the oil into the candle beginning at the north end and work
half-way down the candle. This process is then repeated beginning at
the south end and working to the middle.
The best type of oils to use for dressing candles are
natural ones or oils which have been especially prepared for various
purposes.
The candle to must be completely burned down to comlete
your ritual. Ordinarily, you do not need to stay with the candle
after the ritual has been started, but make sure that is safe and
that there is no danger of damage or fire.
Time your candle-burning
ritual to correspond to the phases of the moon. You can find them
out by
looking at an astrological calendar.
To bring something into your life, do your
rituals when the moon is waxing. To rid yourself of something, do it
when the moon is waning.
If there is any residue remaining afterwards it can be recycled by
melting it down or bury it in the back yard.
If you are conducting a magical
ritual which involves someone in addition to yourself, then the
other person/s can be symbolically represented during the ritual by
another candle/s. All you need to do is find out the subject's
birth date and burn the appropriate candle for that zodiacal sign.
You can repeat the rituals as often as you like, but don't become
obsessive. Candle burning is a way to help you stay open to the
possibilities of life.
It may seem that your particular
wish didn't come true, but who knows? Maybe it is because something
better is coming along in your life. |
