The Etheric Body |

| Etheric body
(ether-body,
or aether
body) is the
name given to a part or layer
of the subtle body.
In esoteric philosophy it is
the first or lowest layer in the "human energy field"
or aura. It
is said to be in immediate contact with the physical
body,
to sustain it and connect it with "higher" bodies. The etheric body is made up of chi and forms a structure of meridians throughout the body. These meridians run through all the major organs, glands, nerves and energy centers. This system of etheric energy permeates the phys-ical body, supporting and sustaining it Many people use the terms etheric body and astral body interchangeably, they are actually two distinct bodies. It is said this subtle life-force body sustains the life of the physical body, and serves as the mold or matrix for physical metabolic func-tions. |
 The etheric body is so much denser than the astral body that most people can see it with very little effort. Just defocus your eyes and stare at your outstretched hand for a moment. You will see your etheric auras as a pale blue or gray area extending about half an inch out from the skin. |

Others say that the etheric body is the result of the interchange
between the physical and astral bodies, much as a rainbow is the
result of the interchange between sunlight and water vapor. The
etheric aura is in contact with both the physical and astral bodies.
All life forms including plants and animals have an etheric body. Nothing physical can be alive without the etheric body as it feeds the physical with energy which is vital for its health and survival. Astral forces interact with the etheric layer and thereby transform basic life-force chi into many other types. The astral actually grasps the etheric and this is how it incarnates and creates with the physical substances. Just as people can astral travel, etheric travel is also possible. The etheric body is so much denser, that it is often seen and it can pick up things and move physical objects. .
